Just wanted to say, i heard richards 401 today, with and without bands and yes, it does make a big difference.
I wont go into details.
Its pretty obvious though, damping the platter has to be a good thing.
How do you stop a bell from ringing?
Put something in contact with the outer diameter!

Is anybody still wanting any big O-rings? I've just got a quote from James Walker, I'm having 2 off:
O RING NITRILE 70 SHORE BLACK MEDIUM MOULDED ID 291.69MM DS 3.53MM. £10.05 each + VAT
I'm hoping it'll be a tight stretch around 299mm
First page says min. order value is £85, but then the 2nd page shows just the prices of the the items I've asked about. So I dunno ~ maybe need to add another six off?

I think rich measured his, i 'think' they may have been 280mm diameter?
Also, the e.bay ones are 5.something thick.
At £10 each + vat +postage would it not be cheaper to buy the ebay ones?
I didnt think they would be cheap, even from the wholesalers/manufacturers.

You can have 5 mil ones if you want, I was only saying wot I want
ebay's all very well but you've no idea how old they are/where they've been/what's happened to them/if they're actually any good 'til you get 'em in yer actual mitts
I explained to wotstheirname what I wanted them for so they got an idea of the hardness required (there's all different sorts apparently)
This their sizes charts (1.5Mb PDF):
http://www.jameswalker.biz/docs/jw_and_ ... ll_doc.pdf
I looked in the 'chart 50' lists

The only thing I have ever successfully stuck with super glue is my fingers.
Should I have a go!?!

First used in Vietnam wasn't it?
Yes seen something about DIY O-ring cord before, while I was looking for something to use as belts for doing up an old tape recorder.
ebay's such a pain tho, looking for something I want that isn't there!

Thanks in anticipation. PM me your address for a cheque etc.
