Actually knowing how you think Nick its clear now I neglected to see the EL84 triode connected in place of the 6EM7 should I require more gain.

OK so this amp is on permanent hold. The other items have altered. Bought a pair of Celestian A2 and the Cambridge 50 watt amp I auditioned them on.
The celestians are 4 ohm. Inspight of the fact the 6as7 couldnt drive the amp at wrong impedance its wrong direction for impedance to go. Doesnt suit the new main room speakers.
So the speakers sound great on the Cambridge amp. Living room listening sorted.
If I wanted to build an valve amp to drive these speakers herald the gm70.
But, not probably worth the bother. So closing this thread permanently.
The OPT’s 1k into 8 ohm will have use as choke load at a 100h.
My efforts on valve amps can stay on top floor. Its only me it matters to. I absolutely love the EL38 amp on the 57’s. I’ll go ahead with Sukuma style change. So an el38 driving an el38 which I drew up on the el38 thread, with the 6em7 power section as the current sink ( so I dont have to find enough room for more industrial poliyprops.) I’ll change the ecc88 volt amp for a 27 mesh plate volt amp stage filament starved (its the only idht Stephie found responds to filament starvasion) iT coupled el38 driving el38. I considered feeding back from opt secondary but I want to hear the filament starved influence and the sukuma theory first. The second in fima t starved is knocked fight down to just 1 or 2 % and the odd order is proportionately equal effect or greater effect .i.e even lower distortion. Thatwill leave the two stages of el38 to assist each other. Sould sound pretty damn fin.
