Paint is a bit orange peel, but these days I don’t care. Chassis is a sheet of Wickes, 2mm aluminium, bashed into shape with end caps made from each end of a bamboo chopping board.
I even managed to order the parts online from HFC’s Boxing Day sale without wanting to flee the house. Had to have a walk afterwards, but compared to a couple of months ago, it is a vast improvement in the old state-of-mind.

Good plan a 6v6 amp.

Excellent Steve, glad you're on with something. Funnily enough I had a yen to build a nice simple 6EM7 amp t'other day, but I'm not up to it at the moment.

Very interesting. Somewhere I've got the remains of a 'breadboard' 6V6 SE ... didn't quite do what I wanted tho ... however I thought it worked well in the AM radio, but which I haven't used lately.

How do the sides attach to the ally Steve?

Cheers guys.
The sides attach with half-inch aluminium angle. The angle is screwed onto the side cheeks then the ally is attached with 3mm through bolts. The bolts can be seen in the pic below:

The 6V6s will be driven by 6SN7 courtesy of Mr I, a few months ago.
Black metalwork is going to need touching up, but that can be done at the end of the job.
The wiring will be completed over the next couple of days.

Yes…The operative word with my project is “simple” too. I’m absolutely not up to making any kind of attempt to do anything with the SV811 DHTs. They’re too much at the moment.simon wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 6:56 pm….Funnily enough I had a yen to build a nice simple 6EM7 amp t'other day…

Lots more 6sntgtbxyzs where they come from. I have a quad of 6v6s from Mariupol one is wonky! Given what's been happening it's no wonder. I was saving it for a 5watt 'champ' amp.
So many excuses, so much never getting off the bench in my mind!
I've been mending guitar amps for chums. I'd like to think one day someone will realise that I'm worth it and buy me more than a drink in the greasy local with a bad blues band but....however I've discovered Blackstar - clever! I watt amp with ecc82 in push pull output and lots more besides...anyway...

Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

That's looking really good Steve, you've given me some inspiration. Just need a bit of go now.

Yes Steve, it's good to see you back in action building again. I always enjoyed your Style of building and the narrative that came as well. Dare I ask if you are still writing a book ?simon wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2023 9:51 pm That's looking really good Steve, you've given me some inspiration. Just need a bit of go now.

What happened to the "simple" amp that we gave beginners to play with, I believe it was Chris who had it last time I heard it mentioned ? (but that was quite a few years ago)simon wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 6:56 pm Excellent Steve, glad you're on with something.
