Thats sad news. For a while, I know lots of bassists tried copying his 16th octave pattern style of playing. It became a staple of 'Disco music'.

Lordy how my fingers and wrist ached. I was one those bass players.

Yup, really. There's a pattern of notes that are played very fast that involve your fingers jumping across strings to play octaves that requires a lot of dexterity and stamina .

I'll find an example if you want to know more on YouTube.
