#1 Is this a Valve of some kind?
Does anyone know what this is per chance? It was in a pub I was in the other day but the fella serving didn't actually know what it was. To me it looks like a valve of some sort but I couldn't reach the shelf to get it down and have a closer look which is probably just as well as I'd had a few beers.
Some type of rectifier or TX valve perhaps?

Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.

Dunno about the glass thingy Mr. B but Tapir and Tabard were Royal Navy 'T' class submarines, WW2 era. The one on the left looks like an unofficial badge for the Devonport submarine squadron . With a quick search i can't find any info on the one with the fishing hook and I'm not sure of what the name is?
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Top finding! Thanks both very much.
Yes, the pub had walls and walls of very interesting 'stuff', lots of it relating to the Goodwin sands, the Naval and Army forts in the Thames Estuary and relics from shipwrecks in the English Channel.
Its the Freed Man Micropub in Walmer, Kent.
Ta again both.

Nick beat me to it, its an x-ray tube. If that Dalek is full size then you could probably x-ray someone in New Zealand with it from here...

You'll get a lovely sun-tan if you put your face close to it.

So the ships badge with the fishing hook is a 1940s/50s RN frigate

The pub is a little treasure trove.

Was so focused on the valve, missed the dalek. Easy target.

Probably is an early Xray tube, Is that a sort of mirror on the RH side, inside the envelope. Otherwise Does it have mercury in it?

Best way to check is to break it and dip your chips in.
