Marconi DA100 Valves
#1 Marconi DA100 Valves
Good morning,
Can someone tell me what the Marconi DA100 valves were used for? I have two that were my fathers and I’m interested in what they were and am considering selling them, but would like some more information about them first. My dad used to be into radio, electronics, hifi and making his own Amps.
Cal.

Theyre very suitable for audio and for transmitters.
very rare today.
Be careful how to sell them, if two audiophiles are bidding for them youd be very pleased with the outcome, but if not youd be very disapointed.
while in your care look after them like royalty.
real elite audiophiles such as the Japanese are youre maximum potential customers.
ive always wanted a pair but they were rare so I never did find them, my friend Darren got one or perhaps two. Now it doesnt matter to me, im done with having to have the biggest valves.

I don’t think there are many GM100’s in UK.

Sorry about the numbers looking like you’re valves @Cal GM100 is completely different Russian transmitting valve!
What you have there is much more practical still rare as a flying Hurricane.

I might be tempted to buy them for interest. The voltages involved are significantly higher than I've used before and the safety implications aren't trivial (they never are). Whoever you sell them to needs to know what they are doing.

The only amp I've ever seen with them is JC Morrison's RI-25 amp for Silbatone :

From that linked page, the NeoHyb looks like a cool idea.
