#1 Headshells...

Post by simon »

I need a spare headshell to mount my 103pro so I can give it a road test. I know very little about headshells having always had arms with fixed headshells, so don't really know what I'm looking for.

Cheap is good. The 103pro will need some mass, but I'd rather do that with bluetack and some lead than pay lots for a work of art, at this stage anyway. Can anyone recommend some candidates?

Cheers,
Simon.

It's the stock arm on the JVC JL-F50.

Hi-a lot of Japanese turntables (like my Yamaha DD and most Pioneer) use an SME fitting headshell.

when i had it i found that an audio technica magnesium headshell was pretty good, i took the rubber washer off it and added a metal one with a small indent filed onto the inside to clear the little pin. that was with a stock 103. that was about 15.00 a few years back. the change of the washer made things abit clearer with that headshell might be worth a look on fleabay

Hi Philip, I didn't realise there were different mounts... This is a "standard" 4 pin job. Is that an SME type?

Thanks Ant, I'll keep an eye out, don't know how often they come up.
