Chainsaw time on the stumps left over from hedge removal last year.
Just in for a rest before attacking the last two.
Mind you, sitting in a coffee bar sounds more appealing.

Oooh, let me think.
Was it by Traffic ?
Edit : damn, this was a reply to Andrew. The timing is now gone.

Finished now, dripping with perspiration and with tingling sensations in the hands.

You've still got two hands - a win!
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

My old Homelite chain saw predates any attempt at vibration insulation. For what little use it gets I'm not going to update it.

Last 55.6kg making a total of 278.6kg of honey for the year.
We only got about 20kg last year (weather was awful).
This year, over 1/4 of a tonne. Madness.

I went to an organ recital in Sudbury tonight, only to find it had been cancelled due to the organ breaking down.

Is that the wedding of some minor 'famous for being famous' Love Island celebrity Nick?
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Not exactly... Perfect evening for it and halfway through the first act a bunch of Red Kite flew over very low (they often fly just a 100ft or so above the ground).

Yes, it's a great time of year and ideal weather for open air performances, warm enough to be able to relax and the Sun sets early enough to get some after dark atmosphere... It's great that these events are happening again.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Something of a solder-fest for me this afternoon. Apart from the Valve DAC and 'New Luminaria' preamp projects I'm working on I've got seeral other projects that I've collected and decided to just assemble what I have gathered with a view to fulfilling the BOMs.
So today I finished assembling all the supporting modules of the Valve DAC and tested them so I'm now ready to hook up the actual DAC board.
I also soldered up a regulated power supply for the preamp.
Ill post updates to those projects on the relevant threads in 'Everyone's Projects'.
I assembeled a couple of Nelson Pass ACA boards. These aren't the standard boards but incorporate a cap multiplier supply (complete with LT4320 'ideal' rectifier) and various other modifications from the DIY Audio thread.
Yeah, I know, I broke the rules of starting with the small components but this is the cap mx complete (apart from the LT4320s, which have now come back into stock) so I can test that first. I should start a thread for this.
I've also partly assembled a hybrid amp based on some Jims Audio PCBs I've had hanging around but modifying them as per John Broskie's suggestions

Anyway, a busy and productive afternoon.

Almost forgot about this.
On Tuesday we went on a coach trip to Lincoln to see the flower festival in the cathedral.
We had lunch first in the main town, and on the way back to the cathedral, at the bottom of Steep Hill, there is a double fronted shop that sells old aircraft instruments and the like.
In the window was a circular voltmeter, all of 6 inch diameter, and reading up to 600V. At £7 I was sorely tempted.
