Two things: I did use my original knee to the last - unfortunately there was no cartilage left and it was bone-on-bone...Paul Barker wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 9:22 am ...
The problem is replacement knee joints are a pile of crap! youre much better off working with youre own knees to the last.

Also, I'd disagree with the rather sweeping statement that "replacement knee joints are a pile of crap!" - I'm largely pain free, have over 120 degrees of movement and can easily walk hilly half-marathons at 4mph with no after effects. I also do at least one stint of swimming 64 lengths (1.6km/1 mile) a week, again with no I'll effects. Cycling is tricky but I'm getting there and I've done a few tennis sessions - unlikely to be able to play decent singles again, but social doubles is fine.
Granted, the bearing surface is only expected to last 10-15 years but the plastic bit that eventually wears out can be replaced in a minor operation - the heavy engineering bits last until death!
So, overall I'm deeply impressed with the new knee.
