Would it be possible to see some pictures as you go making these things?

Here is a picture of layer 5 of 6mm being cut. I cut in layers of 1mm increments.

I thought I had taken more pictures whilst manufacturing the second wave guide, but I must have deleted them, sorry. I basically manufactured the guides in slices (75mm thick ) and glued them together, using dowels to align and transfer datum. Finished the second wave guide yesterday, and commissioned them today - not much to go as their Freq response is flat. Removing the golden horns was a feat single handed, them JBL drivers are heavy. Following a rest, been listening all afternoon to them. The presentation is slightly different from the compression drivers in the lower midrange/upper bass, not quite as dynamic. On the positive attributes the sound is more coherent, as I suppose single point source almost. Airy and detailed with the simple acoustic music that FR drivers like. They don’t do a bad job with more complicated music, just listened to the black album, kept my attention, more polite than the horns, I didn’t realise the detail on that Metallica album. I will need to tweak the phasing to get that last 2% out of them, but that’s time consuming and will have to wait.

After much thought I put my hand in the pocket to purchase some better protection caps. After reading the capacitor review that Tony Gee did for Humble Homemade HIFI I took the plunge and bought some KZK caps from Russia. Had them in the system now running for a couple of hours, the imaging is better, probably because they are sold as matched pairs. The 100uf one is particularly large....

Can you supply a link for those, please? Might give them a go myself.

Aren't those impressions of Tony's for their K78-34 (a different cap to the White Line)? From the look of it, he's got some White Lines in & is currently trying them, but has not yet posted any views on them.

Don't get me wrong, not knocking them at all; if they're built to the spec. claimed, should be a good MKP. Shades of the Clarity MR & Miflex MKPs with that extra polycarb. tube, albeit without the large price tag.

Yes I was aware the review was for the older model. I had opted for the white ones, which were slightly more expensive in the smaller sizes than the original ones, based on some comments on another forum, which I cannot now find,typical. There didn’t seem to be stock of 100 uf ones anywhere anyway of the K78’s.

Machining some horns for a commission, they happen to be the smallest horns I have ever made strangely, will take some measurements, before they leave for their owner..

Small but not that small really, if they are a 290Hz design !
I assume the design isn't trying to get spread of the HF, if it forgoes the fins ?
