Headphone Recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for headphones in the price range 100 to £300 range?

Not very experienced with headphones at all. They can be open back as they're not going to be used in a shared environment.

I just want to listen to my system when others are in bed elsewhere in the house and want an experience a lot better than my £10 JVC flats running off my phone.

I quite like sennheisers, the ones I had were hd520s. Relatively cheap and quite nice.
Problem is, as soon as I put them on, the missus wants to talk to me.......

That made me laugh. I've had this more than a few times.

I'm reading good things about Grados that reflects what I'm after. Anyone got/tried the 325e or 225e?

I quite like sennheisers,

I got fold up ones I can carry around and plug into the iPhone. In fact they also have the iPhone volume thingy.

tried beyer dt880
tried akg 701

all fairly pricey and have good following but

tried superlux hd668b (don't laugh) < £40 and I was hooked, thoroughly recommend them
if you can find a pair to try then I think you'll be sold on them too

Years ago, Sennheiser dealers used to run a 'headphone bar,' where several models were plugged in with a hidden amp and external music source and you could freely compare them. We had a variety of makes on dem this way as well as separate samples of headphones to use in a known system.

I have Goldring DR150, Superlux HD681B Evo, and AKG K702.
The AKGs are in very regular use (listening to them right now), and my son has half inched the Superlux.

The Superlux are very, very good, but the AKGs justify their cost by a considerable margin.

I use senny HD650 for home (on a hifi world class A SE sand amp if anybody remembers those...) and AKG Y50's for on the move. The Y50's are wired, not blue tooth as thats the way I roll.

Both are great value in their own way, and you won't go far wrong with HD650's if you can pick up a pair on sale to bring them in budget.

After the recommendations here and reading many reviews, I opted for the Senn HD650 on sale so in budget. From the many reviews, users and reviewer people, they sounded like the thing I was after.

that's my Christmas present sorted

Now to make a headphone amp to go with them.

You can find many companies offering the quality headphones in the price you have mentioned,, I don't mentioned any specific brand for that... you find reviews and testimonials about the different companies
