Late to the party (only just joined), but the cheaper Audioquest Dragonfly (the Black model) is pretty well unbeatable for the money. I have the Red version fed by a 13 year old laptop. Previously I used the Musical Fidelity VDac 2 with a custom home made USB cable. The Audioquest simplifies things somewhat.

Agree about the Dragonfly. The previous black version got me into computer audio and it became my main source. Have since upgraded to the Chord Mojo and believe it is well worth the extra. I use the new Dragonfly black with my phone. Think I would need headphones to good for out an about to justify the extra cost of the red.

Still use my NVA TFS, though it now runs Win 10. Great sound through a Mytek dac.

Hi Ali do you find running windows 10 on the TFS offers any sonic improvement over the original install of win 7 or is it just a case of better drivers for associated programs etc i am considering updating to windows 10 on mine but like this original install after the initial set up it will be networked but no allowed to connect to the internet .
Which IMO just messes them up it will be a stable purely music orientated machine as is the win 7 install any updates i will choose and do manually

Hi, did this quite a while ago, but yes it did seem to sound better. I have to allow mine internet access as I use Roon and Tidal - which I can highly recommend btw, best I've heard digital (using a good dac) and indeed it rivals my vinyl set up for ultimate SQ.
I've not had any problems other than having to buy a headless pc to run Roon on my network, just using the TFS as a remote control if you like. This is the best way to do and is recommended by Roon. The TFS ran fine for a while, but I think there was something in the last Windows update that screwed things up, so I bit the bullet and bought a secondhand i5 machine off ebay to run Roon. Bit of a fiddle getting it set up, ut everything runs superbly now.

Ok i think i will give the upgrade to win 10 a go i have a spare 250 gb SSD drive so i can install on that and just remove the current one to replace if i dont like windows 10'
I have been looking into roon lately but not yet decided if i should run one of my RPI unit's as an end point or which way to go with it yet i believe there is even a specialised roon set up for the intel nuc pc one of which i have so i have a few options to choose from aside from installing on the TFS which as you say i would have to connect to the internet.
That in turn would allow microsoft to beggar up my pc at there will
Not really keen on the idea of paying roon to run my own music collection but believe the software is really very good whichever way i choose it will be run via my metrum dac.
I am currently running JRiver media on the TFS and quite happy with it but as always in these situations i have the itch to see what else is available and does it improve the sound first and then does it allow ease of use.
