The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.
#3391 Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.
Had the day off yesterday and headed out for an afternoon ride with some lads from work, first group ride for quite a while. Great spring weather, apart from a stiff westerly...
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Hmm yes.
Right, so anyway, as I said, I did my first 2hrs+ ride today, about 30 miles.
2hrs07 to be exact. two 1-in-6 hills around half way.
Weather was perfect, landscape glorious.
All this and a sun-tan too !

One for DtB, I just watched a GCN documentary about a Fixie, the Hope HB.T to be precise.
Really interesting design concept, all about reducing the drag of the combined bike/rider package...
You can have one to Mr. B, if you save your pennies.

That would certainly increase the drag. There's a trailer available

Yeah, but he'll need it for his cheese & piccalilli sarnies.
Hope have some impressive engineering capabilities - they're just up the road from you.

Good video. The GCN one I watched had a lot of content about the design theory, the wide front forks and rear seat stays are all about reducing the drag of the riders legs for example - the numbers from the wind tunnel measurements show a non-trivial improvement, IIRC something like 2-3 bike lengths over a 200metre sprint.

....but....but... all that assumes you want to go faster.
Supposing you didn't, suppose you just wanted to ride again and look at the views n stuff.
And anyway, my legs are fatter than those forks. Actually, everything of mine is currently fatter than those forks

Good racing in yesterday's Giro stage and a brave defence of the maglia rosa.

In that case you get more MPS. (miles per sarnie).Dave the bass wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 8:59 pm ....but....but... all that assumes you want to go faster.
