#1 WANTED small computer (shuttle ?) cases

Post by pre65 »

Hi-now i've got to the build stage for my 845 power amps i am having second thoughts (for several reasons) of building it on a "bit of wood".

A thought occurred to me today (always a dangerous thing) about building each one in a small computer case (like a shuttle) and i wondered if anyone had a couple laying around (matched pair ideally) or knew where to buy them at (very) reasonable cost.

I always think its safer on the wood, in a metal case, you can't see whats going on in there.

Yes, I wouldn't build this anyway else. Wood makes like very easy and you can see everything not having to poke around when testing etc.

Re-build on a propper case late when the design is finalised. You don't yet know what the exact valves and components you may end up with..

I agree with the comments so far but i would feel "safer" to have the "thing" enclosed whilst it was laying on the floor !

I could design my wood bases to fit inside a couple of shuttle/cube/micro atx cases but i'm having trouble locating a pair of used ones.

Plenty of single ones on e-bay (even a very nice Hoojum case) but no pairs. :(

Ooooer. I'd just use a wooden box.....with a lid.

But that's me, the thought of it frightens me to death.
Not ready for such things just yet.
Much to learn there is.

Right-i have been wandering around the house, garage and sheds and have found a suitable "box" for the amp.

Not saying what it is at this moment in time.
