Sadly the Les Paul is off out the door tomorrow :(
Also note that Pearl (the left side Strat) is now sporting 3 single coils. The SSH scratchplate has been removed and boxed for the time being.

Spookily similar choice of guitar and colour scheme... :-)

Bet that Gibson didn't come with a neck in 2 parts like the one I inherited from our guitar-smasher Son!!!!

Spot the join. I repaired it and cherish it.

I can't play a note but these things fill me with desire. Why is that?

You like holding a good, hard bit of wood in your hand?

Probably more due to their iconic and cultural significance.
They are beautiful too.

The Les Paul went to its new owner today - I had merely checked out its authenticity and overall condition and picked it up from its previous guardian.

I'm sad to see it go, as it had a wonderful feeling neck, and it sounded great played either clean or dirty through the baby Blackstar.

It was nice to see the look of "oooohhhh!!!" on its new owner's face.
I'm going to miss that guitar, that's for sure - I'd have liked to have spent a good few years getting acquainted 8)

Dunno how I missed this first time round, but that LP looks killer even in its unfinished state.
How far have you got with the project Mr. C?

being painted as we speak,

took a bit of time and trouble to do the fit up work prior to this,

the pickup routs were a bit on the large side so there had to be a bit of creativity to get the pickup rings to fit, they teeter on the edges, the radiusing of the rings to fit the body was a time consuming task, some people tape sandpaper on the top and rub them up and down or as I did use a radius gauge to get the shape and nibble the plastic away, it must have Driven the guys at Gibson mad as each body was hand finished and different

anyway it's being finished in a suitably faded dirty lemon burst, should look quite good with the flame top

this is roughly what we're trying achieve

much respect David - looks to be coming on really well.

I am a sucker for nice maple caps and the faded lemon burst finish will look great with that grain

Here's my Paul - not as subtle as yours but I love it.
Its a handmade Tokai LS-150, and stands up against all the Pauls I have played over the years.

I take my hat off to you for building one from scratch.

Cheers
Pete

here's a bit of a update, colour is a bit more vivid than in reality, coats of semi gloss lacquer, just need for it to cure and then it will be polished

work is being done by Angela Arnott at Guitar Angel
