Well done Ant. I concur with your findings and as usual, what it does at home can't be replicated at a fest so you are probably now understanding the enthusiasm I've maintained for a while for the 401 mounted properly

it does do something special doesnt it! it does have its little foibles, like taking 15 minutes to settle down and warm up properly and being slightly clunky to operate even when all linkages and stuff are greased, but i can forgive that the instant the needle hits the black stuff.
the sandpaper clean on the benz stylus worked very well after i realised the sandpaper couldnt hurt the diamond anyway so decided to do it.
grounding the bearing into the slate worked nicely too, giving a little more clarity.
next set of tweaks anyone?
