I've got a Norah Jones that's Quiex, its noisy too, love the album, thought I'd mistreated it or something, but it seems like a QC problem, shame :(

Very interesting indeed, but it's not making the master that's the "problem" it seems here, it's pressing the things out of vinyl from it afterwards. So, QC issue / not enough care and attention :?:

I should have thought not by definition.

Musically, I reckon Muddy Waters sings Big Bill Broonzy has the edge over folk singer.

Well, this saga is still on-going, the seller has been great and sent another 2 x 200grm copies, both were duff. He took my most duffest 200grm copy to the importer downstairs (he works in the same building on a floor above) and sho' nuff they weren't happy with the state of it either.

This morning I've now been sent a bog standard 140grm non-Quiex version of Hot Rats on Classic Records, it's flat and the hole is in the middle  No 'SVP profile' or heavy weight wing-dingerness, just a bog standard copy.

I've got a refund for the difference.

Finally sorted!

Thanks to Chris Stratbasher for services beyond the call of duty too for keep my Hot Rats listening requirements satisfied while I sorted this out :-)

Dunno, but in my Hot Rats experience more isn't better. The standard 140grm is much more record-like. Flat and concentric :-)

It's almost like the press isn't up to it. The thick version I mean. Or maybe not left to cool long enough :?:

That's a shame about 'Classic' because they had some nice stuff on their lists and my copies of 'Kind of Blue' and 'Blue Train' from them were superb .
At least Sundazed are still out there ...
