Tonearm
#1 Tonearm
I know this has now gone, the seller let it go for £650 + P&P.
My question is, can anyone confirm what this arm is?
Ortofon something?
Thanks
Darren

what I don't know is if the BBC made the arms or bought them in,

Yes it is a BBC arm, called a RP-9 or something similar.
Very little information on them. I've searched the BBC archive but no info.
I have got one and just wanted to know more.
they seem to be well rated and I have seen the odd one fetch well over £100 on ebay.

Gerry

I knew there was a reason I liked it so much, of all my arms it's the one I prefer..

It came to me on the very first 301 I bought,
I didn't know much about 301s or tonearms back then, still don't really
It was my second purchase of turntable and arm, the previous being a TD150 with a Sumiko arm. That's a nice arm as well and I still have them both.

Don't worry mate I had a marble based Transcriptors proper one, sold it for £250 was so excited telling Darren, he said they go for £1,000.
No wander the feckin dealer drove down from Middlesborough and gave me a GL75 to boot, I thought he was just being friendly.
It was about the most light sounding but neutral deck I have ever owned. Everything seems to have it's pluses and miunuses, it wasn't nearly as organic as the 301 in slate, but it was the best of the rest, and probably a bit better on top. HAD IT BEEN MOUNTED ON SLATE ... I shall never know.

don't know if it's true or not,
on another forum I read that there is an Ortofon 12" arm still sold in Japan and Germany, said to retail for about 600 quid,
