I've settled on a Kenwood kp9010. Coming from Japan ..

Let's see if we have luck with this one .

Always thought Kenwood/Trio were under-appreciated in this country. The SR222 was a brilliant budget deck, much nicer than the ubiquitous Pioneer PL12D. Let’s hope the KP9010 lives up to that.

Can't find Kenwood trio sr222.

Agree, with Shane, excellent turntable - the first proper one I owned and my nephew has just bought one for his venture into viyl.

D’oh! Quite right, and the Sansui was an excellent turntable but it wasn’t the one I was trying to remember. Trio’s offering in the same market area had a composite granite plinth. Can’t remember the model number now but it was a long time ago.

The Kenwood arrived . Unfortunately the packaging was piss poor and it suffered damage. Loose transformer , damaged lid and tonearm .

The seller was very gracious and said I could keep it for hundred quid . At the very least replacement tonearm and lid are available .

I'm now on a crash course in Kenwood repairs .

First issue was taking the tonearm off.

Everything on a line is a bloody lie . It said lossen 1 screw and bobs your uncle . Crap.

First took the feet off. Then the bottom cover . There upon the transformer fell out.

The 3 screws took of a metal case . Then 3 more loosened the tonearm . The I had to desolder the tonearm wires .

With that the arm came off . .

Fixed the bit that snapped with epoxy resin . Then used a miniature drill to clean the area glued as glue overspill prohibited the metal counterbalance being fitted .

Eventually it fitted . First job done

Sounds like you’re doing well in recovery. When you said arm came off my first thought was you’re arm. Also liked thereupon the transformer fell out. Like you're prose its humorous.

Power to your er, elbow....tho' without a transformer it might be tricky.

Apparently a modification on the internet is to fit better rubber gromits to isolate the transformer , so I'm halfway there.

Today a 3000volt step down transformer arrived .

Now I be able to test the electrical operation
