Never had much luck when I tried one. As it’s a boom box there is every likelihood the laser lens is accessible, so a wipe over with IPA should do it.

Cotton bud and isopropyl alcohol.

Thanks chaps. It sounds like they've given the lens a "wipe with a tissue" but I'll dig out some isopropyl alcohol for them.

Just the ticket! If you had a tiny toothbrush it might help but the lens is very delicate and 'loose' in its setting ( you know this, I'm sure)

Indeed. I suspect it will be more of a lottery for my parents though...

Going travelling, so bought wireless headphones (JBL) and some cheapy wireless earbuds. Each came with a USB A to USB C charging cable, and each will charge with its own cable, but not with the other’s. I have no idea why, but I’m taking both cables

Whilst in the front garden earlier I heard an unusual bird noise from the trees over the pond opposite.

I went and got my binoculars and it looked big Pidgeon size with a dark grey (almost black) body and a black patch in the face area.

I'm not sure what it was. :?

Looking online the Jackdaw was suggested, but I'm not convinced.

My Dad used to dig out the moss and throw grass seed where the moss had been. But it wasnt very successful if I recall.

I cant get to my grass for the brambles taking over like Triffids.

Why? Just let it do it's thing and enjoy the proliferation of insects and other wildlife that will come... Saves you time, improves your garden's biodiversity and looks lovely!

Several years since we cut most of the grass - only a couple of short areas for those birds that like that, e.g. wagtails. It is mown in late September (after the wildflowers have set seed) and the cuttings taken off to help impoverish the soil a bit as this helps wildflowers at the expense of grass. Introducing pioneer species such as yellow rattle also helps.

I used something called Mo bacter last year…. I was moss free in June last year….. it’s all back now. So did it really work? Apparently moss doesn’t like phosphates, which was the main agent in the natural approach of Mo bacter. I am trying to crowd it out with grass seed this year…. I have a 20kg bag of iron sulphate, ready for later.
