updated my studio m/c to windows 24H2 and lost access to the NAS. I updated the mem sahib's laptop a few months ago and can't remember the adjustments I made to access the NAS.
I spent 6 hrs yesterday, adjusting the various security settings and turning on the smb-v2/v1 and cifs switches on, as detailed in numerous web searches. No joy!
has anybody had this misfortune and know how to sort it.
last resort may be to update my NAS unit. It's zyxel 325-v2 and I think circa 2013ish. More waily, any thoughts on qnap vs sinology. I'm assuming the new NAS units know all about the win11 foibles.
or, alternatively, I could find out how to go back to 23H2.

Ha!
I've found a workaround if anybody has this problem....
I use advanced IP scanner to interrogate the LAN, and it shows the NAS unit. By clicking the NAS unit in the list it exposes all the shares on the NAS and by clicking on a share it expands the URL of the share in explorer. From there it's easy to map the share so it shows up in explorer.
bit clunky but it works.

May be old smb versions in play. A lot of the older less secure stuff was tolerated in the past but no longer...

Sounds like SMB 1.0/2.0 is the issue. Try enabling it in Control Panel. If that doesn’t work, upgrading to a newer NAS (QNAP or Synology) might be the way to go.
