I had the investigations long time back 2004. At the time I was a manufacturer’s engineer. Those are prime jobs in my industry. But fear of prostate cancer made me not good at work and I voluntarily quit that job. Wish I hadn’t, couldn’t go back.steve s wrote: Sat Oct 19, 2024 10:00 pm What I've been surprised by is that quite a few people over the years who have died from cancer, it turns out quite a few of their cancers spread from the prostate, when you talk to people who where close.
I didn't have the usual symptoms that one associates with prostates, I could go all day without a problem, but would go a few times when I got up in a morning.
So here I am 20 years later.
So what actually happened? Prior to getting he afformentioned job, I was working away in London doing Landlord checks for Westminster Homes as a contractor. We were promised parking permits, but companies lie to contractors.the permits never materialised. Even back then it was war on motorists in central London. I had a friend who lived in Havestock Hill, so I did my job sleeping on his floor, downhill ride down Havestock Hill to my patch, rucksack on my back with tools.
Cut a long story short, I starated bleeding clots of blood out of my willy.
Anyway Mr Hawyard a down to earth Yorkshire man Urologist checked me out. I knew him from the childrens ward when he did circ’s. He used to say to the Mum’s, “It’ll look like a dog’s been chewing it for a few weeks, but it’ll be OK!”
So Im full of apprehension in the one queue you dont want to go fast. As you join the queue in the corridore outside the theatre on a trolley with green theatre gowns adapted to cover all youre body except youre privates, and a towel covering them while in the corridore.
Anyway after, Mr Hawkyard, knowing me from the Children’s ward, put his and on my shoulder…” It’s alright Paul, you havent got cancer!”
He must have known his trade. 20 years later, he proved right.
The moral of the story is dont ride a bike with a load on youre back all day up hill and down dale when you arent adapted to it! Or get a seat with a gap where youre perinium rests. You can get seats which give it room to breathe. Took about a year for pain day and night and bleeding to cease. But Mr Hawkyard was right.
