Good to hear, Steve, and mildly reassuring.

We're all in the zone I'm afraid. Even more reason to get checks and checked out.

Thanks gents I'm not feeling too good, but the op went perfectly by the local top consultant on the devinci robot.
The guy in next bed, who had same as me is going home, I can't stand up without being close to fainting, had 4 attempts so far and each time its taken an hour to get back to normal

Managed to snap a bicep tendon yesterday. Been for an x-ray today, will get a call next week for an ultrasound to determine the extent of the damage and if surgery is required, I'm pretty sure it is.

Geez I hope all you guys are okay.

I'd heard they don't need to do the finger check anymore, they can tell with bloodtests apparently...

Well- the blood test is the PSA thing; unreliable.

The finger test is still done quite a lot. First, find a G.P.! Ha. They also do it for 'piles'- so, perhaps, if you are a G.P. who actually knows ( experience) can easily tell if the patient has hypertrophy of the prostate. In itself this causes problems ( not cancer) and of course an enlarged prostate deffo needs further investigation.

Back in my life in Brighton, 20 plus years ago I had things go suspicious so I had quite a few fingers up me bum. It's not always unpleasant- ' there's always time for lubrication...' ( what film, quote!?)

But it got serious enough for ultrasound scan, spherical plastic thing up your bum and all was revealed on the screen. Interesting cabling and the prostate does look a donut.

Anyway, they booted me out the door having tested for various STIs also and, touch wood, I got better.

Plenty of time tho' I suppose. One GUI Consultant looked over his half specs and said something like-, lookie here young man, if we chaps lived to 125yrs we'd all get prostate cancer.

Bowel cancer is another bugger - sorry, I had to say it. I'd love to have any number of flexi sigmoid investigations ( infinitely preferable to an endoscopy down the throat) if it meant I'm free from bowel cancer. Two of my uncles died of this and I was helping look after one of them right up to the end. What a dreadful mess.

So, all the best to all of us, says I. Everyday I wake up I welcome having choice.

What I've been surprised by is that quite a few people over the years who have died from cancer, it turns out quite a few of their cancers spread from the prostate, when you talk to people who where close.
I didn't have the usual symptoms that one associates with prostates, I could go all day without a problem, but would go a few times when I got up in a morning.

I had my MRI scan yesterday. A curiously relaxing experience, I almost nodded off. Now the wait to see what is made of it.
