You may be interested in the fact that I have a Limoge jug that was exhibited there- it used to belong to the queen mother. :D

To her dying day, I am told, she wondered where her petit puss pot went.

Haha! She used to rent a small hunting lodge from Invercauld Estate (Adjoins Balmoral) a few miles outside Braemar- was apparently very into the huntin, shootin and fishin in her younger days. It was left there when she gave the lodge up as it had been broken quite some time ago and had a couple of staples fitted.

My Grandfather was the Invercauld Estate plumber and had gone up to turn the water off, saw the jug and asked if he could have it as a present for my Grandmother and was told he could. Years later we did a little research and discovered that a pair- of which this was one- had been made for the Exhibition, similar to jugs they sold at the time, but much larger- it stands around 18 inches high. Not to my taste particularly, though I appreciate how beautifully made it is. It would have had quite a value if it hadn't been broken, then broken again by my Stepfather and glued back together. We were told around £30,000 pounds..

Lovely story though - family heirloom and all.

May be worth having a professional restorer look at it. They can do amazing things, even with badly broken, glued and stapled, china.

I had a stroke about 3 weeks ago. I have bad dna my grandfather and great grandfather on Paternal side died instanttly from said type of stroke. It is called Cerebral amyloid angiopathy. My symptoms are lessening. Except the increase to normal forgetfullness of a 67 year old without it.

My speach is mildly 8mpaired, but my ability to remember what I was saying isgreater. A bit of a challange as Diana’s carer. Her and my dementia can clash. But for the time being me and Diana can together manage independent living.

The only thing I can contribute to staying alive is to remain calm unstressed and keep a constant watch on my Blood Pressure. On my one and only talk with the consultant he siad “no more heavy weights, get a blood pressure machine and check it many times a day.” I’ll take that. 15 days into the blood pressure reducing meds they are now kicking in. My bp is mostly where it needs to be to hopefully not suffer the sometimes fatal stroke,

There has been an impossible to describe speech impediment, but that was transient. However at unexpected moments Im speachless. We are taught to state “I have had a stroke slowly and clearly”.

I dont have much of my former excellent physical health. Banned from driving for a month, dare not ride my push bike. Walking busing or trains.

Still a happy person. I cant see me lugging my amps to you again.

The occupational therapists have suggested I carry on designing and building valve amps. The Physios have told me to carry on going to Ricky’s Yoga sessions at my Son’s BJJ gymn. But no more BJJ. Ricky teaches a yoga that isnt about rediculous joints like a lot of yoga is about. Its more about teaching the brain and nervous system to learn how to use our joints. Pretty much what a Physio does for a stroke subject.

Im sick that I cant push weights any more. But facing more chance of death matters more.

I will be, though it has some small pieces missing. Worth repairing for it’s rarity if nothing else.

You'd need to practice a look of shock/amazement and then burst into tears. They love tugging at the emotional strings...

My wife's family had lovely china, but one of the many aunts was prone to having a tipple (or 10) and then chucking it around...

Some of the more valuable damaged pieces were glued and stapled but have subsequently been professionally restored. Amazing what was done...

Sorry about your situation Paul. :(

My mother was 10 when the the Crystal Palace burned, they could see it from their house, it lit up the sky.

It's been asked since how was that possible as it was made of cast iron and glass, ah but the interiors were timber. Lots of timber beams.

Absolutely. Sorry to hear that Paul...

At Gare d'Austerlitz awaiting the overnight sleeper to Bayonne...

I remember going to judo competitions and track events at the embarrassingly named "national sports centre" - it was in poor repair even when I was at school in the area in the '70s - there were the remains of some of the foundations and bits of the concrete dinosaurs...
