Thanks for the feedback guys.

Just so I understand correctly, the circuit should be the following: source -> [gain -> baxandall] -> power amp

I'd say so but I think there still should be a buffer stage after the baxenball tone section to iron out impedance issues with whatever comes next.

The second pair of triodes is part of the Baxandall circuit, as an inverting amplifier, and the output comes from that, and is buffered. I assume Steve meant that.

The extra gain stage could be between the vol pot and first cathode follower. Because just occurred to me what if the source signal was large, a Voltage amp before the vol pot could be driven to distortion or overload.

Here is another site with a component value calculator…annoying with the amount of ads.

I was looking at this http://www.r-type.org/articles/art-010o.htm recently. But just out of curiosity I fancied a go at the bass boost from the corner frequency of 300hz at 6db an Octave. I’m pretty sure I was interested enough to order two EF36. But nothing I plan is carried out at the moment. Living with wife's illness is inconceivably challenging you have to experience it to know, and I’ll not say any more. Anyway thats my excuse. Also I’m doing work on my son’s new gym alone his girlfriend’s father came up and built two changing rooms but had to go back to his job in Peterborough. So now Im alone filling out the carcass. Then onece every 6 weeks I spend a long day with my 93 year old aunt in Hull, my cousin with Motor Neurone disease and noone knows who will die first but whichever it is the second one will follow fast. My 86 year old uncle comes from London but he has a broken humerous which they arent going to bother to help the humerous find the shoulder accurately and he has asked me to see him off the train at the end of the long day. All the time worrying about my wife in Scarborough. Then I catch the last Scarborough walk home and am greeted by my wife who has forgoten what I said in the morning , and my 90 year uncle. Im slowly cracking up, and decided valve projects better go on hold.
