Scakectric! Wonderful.
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

I recently re-took my 5 year gas exams. The instructor sad The VW full electric Transporter only has a 50 mile range in winter. and I guess if you use the battery power for heating less. Best dress up warm when you go back to the van to the next job.
But because of encouragements to corporations if they get an electric fleet,(though nothing for independents and prrivates, covid all over again, no help for independents) there are a load of them with pathetic range in winter and nobody wants to buy them.
The supply and demand microeconomic on a one to one level will collapse the market. How long before the idiots continuing to pursue this stupid agenda look at alternatives to electric transport and make them allowable in ules zones. Especially if they include the environmental cost of making batteries. The electric vehicle should be tret by ules rules on the lifetime cost to the environment. Not just the time its driving in youre town. Then account for the productions costs all over again when it needs new batteries.

If it’s got 50mile when it’s cold , it’s only got 65 -75 miles top.
That a shit car and as nothing general to say on evs .

So , a ford transit ev will do 170 - 200 miles per charge

Checking, the range doesn't sound like it will have come as a surprise to anyone, VW quote a WLTP range of 82 miles. I would guess that whoever decided to buy them knew that and had looked at the daily millage done by their previous fleet. Nothing wrong with a 50 mile range if they only get driven 45 miles a day.
Looking at this:
https://www.parkers.co.uk/vans-pickups/ ... er-review/
There are 200 mile range alternatives if that's whats needed. But the other side of the small range is the 80% charging in 45 minutes, which if the usage involves regular returns to base, then 100 miles and day with a lunch hour while it charges seems ok.

I take your point entirely Nick.
But people never cease to underwhelm me. Our own national plant team are replacing our hybrids with all electric. They were very proud of the engagement they'd done, except nobody knew anything about it, and the depots don't actually have charging points...

Yep, the introduction of EV's can't fix stupid.

I was close to a highly paid team at work that introduced chocolate bars alongside our coke vending operation.
All worked well until the summer when it all melted in the vans... that was the end of that one.. they were warned about the risk too
It was hard to believe how unpractical and shortsighted many of the sales managers were..

The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

As business decisions go , chocolate melting in a van must be up there with the European super league .

Mmm, dunno about that. There's a reason Perez et al are desperate for it, and it's not to be poorer. The affect on football as we know it is another matter, but commercially the Super League somehow feels inevitable in some flavour.

My only problem with them is if I push them a bit too hard into a bend they tend to fly off the track and get stuck under the sofa.

Inevitably, it's just a question of when.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!
