#1 Possible Meet-up

Unread post by vinylnvalves »

I seen to have the house to myself on the 15th of June. So I was thinking of having an audio day, Dave’s coming to visit, but I thought I would open the invite to any members who want to come to Nottingham. I think we could have a couple of systems running, obviously mine isn’t easy to swap things in and out with being active, so will use another room too.
Will sort some food etc out, and having onsite parking for around 5 cars or so.

I know it’s not Owston, but it could be fun.

Damn I would have come but my Son is competing at Polaris grapling contest in Doncaster that day, and I have a ringside ticket. My Son needs the support its one of the most prestigous BJJ competitions. I think its at the Dome. I dont have a vehicle at the moment but Sam has a lift with his coach from 10th Planet Darlington who usually takes his corner. Im hoping some one from Sam’s gym can give me a lift.

Back to youre event. I couldnt bring anything as things stand. But I would enjoy what others are able to bring. If the date gets changed for other reasons Id get myself there somehow.

I love the music from the EL38 amp I built. But its not very portable. My next built is the 2006 ETF el36 triode amp. But I’m not taking apart my EL38 amp. Its too good.

The el36 design which isn’t mine has an element of feedback which returns from the anode of the el36 into the screen grid of the pentode driver, which I’m very curious about. So I must build it as it is clearly designed by someone who thinks outside the box in ways I havent thought of.

The problem holding the build back is money for output transformeres or I go back twenty five years and wind output transformers again. Not very likely. When you get to 66 practical skills deteriorate.

It’s the Cheshire HIFI show the week after, so Dave and I may see some of you there anyway.

I may be free on the Saturday steve, we've got a family party that weekend, but that's more likely happening on the Sunday, so provisionally I'd like to come, I also quite fancy the nw audio show, but I'm busy that Saturday evening ..let's see..
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

You’re welcome, Steve, I have my Leonard Cohen albums primed and ready. Only no no’s musically are brass bands and Max Bygraves ( sorry Phil). Ideally I would like Chris to come and sprinkle some DSP magic as I don’t trust my ears anymore.

Would love to attend, but I'm afraid the 15th has been my most-requested date on the calendar so far. I think I've turned down 4x shows which have asked for my services, because I've already been booked to do sound for a wedding.

Will ping you a message about potential dates. Maybe we can sort something out that way.

Just given my turntable a spin today, to make sure it still works for the weekend :D. The motor is making a faint rubbing noise, did someone post a while back about tweaking Nottingham Analogue motors? Assuming it’s a bearing….

Having another “HiFi” day on the 17th of August. Dave is going to bring his Opal Events around to compare with my DIY creations, and chat and eat. All welcome.
