I dropped the frame off for a respray at Argos Racing Cycles in Bristol this afternoon. I decided to have it done in the darker yellow colour in the picture a few posts back. The forks are all but unmarked so I decided not to pay the extra to get them resprayed (it is a lot extra as they're carbon fibre so would need to be manually wet sanded whereas the steel frame can be sandblasted) so I'll still have the sulphur yellow crown to the forks but i think that'll look OK. They're paintshop is busy so It'll take about 4weeks before I can pick the frame up.

They do some amazing paint jobs on retro-road bike frames that I'm sure some of you will enjoy

I' thought it was time to use the collection of bike parts I've accrued so I bought a frame to hang everything on.

Every bike maintainer should have one Mike, really makes working on a bike so much easier and more comfortable.

On other matters, are you planning some more cycling adventures as the weather improves Mike? There's one of the top cycle trails over in your part of the country;

Thanks for that, I have various sketchy plans for summer, cycling might be involved at some point. But also motorbikes, sidecar outfits ... too many irons really

Reminds me I was looking at The Viking Way recently, but Google images suggest some sections are blocked off or otherwise inaccessible. Never as simple as you might expect.

There's a nice chap I'm following on YouTube, I am in the middle of watching his Pennine Bridleway mini cycling adventure (train to Ambergate and then onto the southern end), he thought yeah Pennine Bridleway, specifically intended for horse riders and cyclists right? Should be simple. (Clue being in the title, and what National Trails says on its web site). It's approximately parallel to 'The Pennine Way' for walkers, or that's how I interpret it. But Jeez is it rough in places! Not just the hills, expected that, but it's the rough stony paths, loose rocks, gravel and mud. Even going downhill it can be unsafe to go faster than walking pace, so it's not quick. So not terribly suitable for bicycles then. He couldn't see a horse doing much with it either!

This bicycle, called the "RELATIVITY Special", if pedaled at 90 rpm, is designed to travel faster than the speed of light. This is proven by a description of the gear ratios on the sheets seen on the wall behind it. One revolution of the pedals sends the bike 6 times around the earth. (It is part of the art exhibition "Circle of Time" that Pat Chirapravati curated now on display at California State University, Sacramento).

And I thought my bike had high gearing (53:16). I note one small flaw in the design though; the sprocket on the rear wheel will come undone. I'm amazed it needs two locks to stop it being stolen - you're not going to hop on that and ride it away. Wonderful.

I've a '78 original argos framed bike in the garage, its a nice ride and fully campagnolo'd up..
no where near as light as cf of course.. but with my physic it don't really matter
