I was looking at mono preamp boards on Ebay, and came across this amusing specification.
"The whole frequency band is very average with accurate and soft high frequency, full mid-frequency, flexible and strong low frequency. The sound is near to gallbladder machine and LP records."
A gallbladder machine ?

I have seen the word gallbladder appear a lot in Chinese translations. May be related to (from wiki)
In the Chinese language, the gallbladder (Chinese: 膽) is associated with courage and a myriad of related idioms, including using terms such as "a body completely [of] gall" (Chinese: 渾身是膽) to describe a brave person, and "single gallbladder hero" (Chinese: 孤膽英雄) to describe a lone hero.
Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.

So, on the whole, it is a good idea to have gall bladders - sort of Clint Eastwood thing.

Every winter we start to have condensation problems upstairs which in turn causes mold problems. Being an old house we had it insulated which i wish we hadnt. It is boiling in summer and boiling in winter if the heating is on for more than half an hour. It has to be on longer than that to dry clothes because the kitchen is too small for a dryer. So it is always at an uncomfortable temparature.......
Bought a big dehumidifer to try to alleviate the problem this year.
Plonked it on the landing at the top of the stairs with all the doors to the rooms open. Its been running for about 4 hours and has already filled a 2 litre water tank. I didnt realise just how humid it is in here and how much water it could pull out of the air. It feels much nicer upstairs.
And it seems to cost bugger all to run it

Another vote for Meaco. We have one of these and use it when we dry laundry indoors in winter

Funny you should ask ..Thermionic Idler wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 8:09 amDid they arrive in the end?
So, after a busy morning, SWIMBO and I were crashing in front of the fire with a nice cuppa watching the rugby (England Vs PNG) whilst the rain hammers down outside...
...when all of a sudden there's a knock at the front door...
It was the manager of the village club (about 400 mtrs away up in the village centre).
Behind the club, in their log store, a member of staff had found a box!!!
It was the missing parcel! I now have two pairs of Keen Targhee III UK14 wide fit Goretex boots. Hurrah!
Except they are too small...
