As an apprentice undergraduate electronic engineer at STL back in about 1980, I worked on the design of the TXE 4A exchanges. got some braggin rights here....
my mum was a supervisor at the Hitchin exchange in the 60s so I got to spend many happy hours in the equipment room watching the strowgers clicking. But most importantly I got to have lunch at the top of the PO tower.
