So true. My Dad thought his German Pointer was a great guard dog because she went ballistic when someone came to the door. Dad felt secure in his old age (though he was younger than me now when his heart failed him)..
Anyway, his friends told him “when you’re out Richard, Poppy never makes a sound when we come to the door”.
She was making the fuss to please her owner. If he wasn’t there, no point!
My sons dog Roxy will appear from anywhere in a flash when a cheese plastic wrapper is cut. World War 3 response she’d be laid flat to the floor in a sun spot. But woe betide any birds flying past the window, or miercats before coronation street. She gives them what for. But any people come to the house and she’s on her back wanting a tummy rub!
