This one is for Ali
We've just got back from a walk through the park and along the river bank.
Adjacent to the park is a solitary generator, one of the big ones with a rectangular head. It was turning slowly, and being a bit anal I counted it, it was 1 rev in 35 seconds.
And it was making a terrific noise, which stopped occasionaly(the noise) for about 20 seconds and then recommenced the noise. It wasn't pointing directly into what little bit of wing there was, but was slightly off.
Any idea what the noise was all about??. We argued/discussed possibilities and I suggested(not seriously) that they were burning off electricity.

There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be
#2 Re: wind generators
Sorry Ed but I don't know. I build substations for windfarms rather than the turbines themselves.
#3 Re: wind generators
What sort of noise was the wind generator making Ed?
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Moving on from my toilet humour, there's some info about rotation speeds here;

online info suggest that modern turbines are very quiet?
