Good grief ..

Tho I am reminded – as one is sometimes – when I was very small my dad had a scruffy black Ford Popular van (the gull-wing bonnet one, not the later 100E) – in Laindon High Street he had a VW beetle run into the back of it. Difficult to see any damage on the back of the van except that what passed for a rear bumper (a straight length of simple steel angle, also painted black) was slightly warped in the middle. The VW was totally stoved in. The guy said he'd only just had it repaired from when it had happened before!

The Ladybird book, that first piqued my interest in all things electric.

No idea why it popped into my head on a Saturday afternoon in October 2021. Maybe the first step on the road to senility and decrepitude.

Count yourself lucky you're only on the first step Steve

I used to love those Ladybird books (and the Woollies where I used to buy them and, when I was a little older, my Airfix models).

My favourute was about space, IIRC this it - I still have a mental picture of the illustration of the Woomera tracking station, which I tried to build with my Lego

It's where it all started - well all that's worth bothering with.

Certainly, Frank Hornby got it right in 1898.
