We've been hearing some strange noises today which seemed to be coming from outside in the gap between me and the neighbour. Every time I went outside there was no obvious source of the noise.

Just recently I was startled to find a Blackbird INSIDE my wood burner !!

So, I've removed the outside blanking plate on the flue (for sweeping purposes) and hope the bird will find it's way out.

I hope so, there have been no noises this morning.

It seems the Ebay system for reporting suspicious items is out of action again.

I first noticed it last night about 9 PM and it's still unavailable 12 hours later.

I've sent messages to the two account holders who I know have had their accounts scammed, so they can contact Ebay.(if they hadn't already done so)

I got one too. Very nicely made. Great design, easier to use and better than the traditional longer ones.

Was wondering why my planer/thicknesser was not wanting to start...

I'm not sure, but I may just have found the reason  Should be 30uF, reads 10.7uF

Moved house last week, we're now back in Southsea - a lot more space for the same outlay. No reason to pay a fortune to live just outside the M25 with remote working being the new normal.

Issue 1: the line voltage at our last place was 245V. Here, it's 235V. So my carefully curated 300B amp heater / operating point voltages are now out again, this time with the heater voltages being too low! System sounds pretty good but I'm detecting something a bit 'off'. I know it should be possible to make the adjustment with a couple of small 10V or 12V transformers - I can't remember what it's called but it's when you connect the secondary to the mains either in phase or out of phase, and it 'bumps' the voltage up or down depending on the secondary voltage.

Issue 2: the smart meter monitoring shows our consumption at about 500 watts consistently, overnight, even though everything is switched off or on standby. That's like leaving all the lights on with old fashioned incandescent bulbs. Heating is by gas and we have solar panels - much of the time our off-grid consumption is zero during daylight hours, yet despite that, if I don't track this down the electricity alone is going to head north of £60 this month, and during the summer months at least, it should be a lot less than that.

I was a bit surprised by the unplanned disassembly. It is, after all, from that famously reliable and massively well known manufacturer, Heng Da... (*)

(*) No, I've never heard of them either...

I'm a Hampshire lad, Mum and bros still live in Fareham - might have to give you a shout for a beer when I'm down sometime.

Is there anything growing in the loft?

If the smart meter is seeing it then the consumption must be on your consumer unit - I would power down each ring in turn to start narrowing it down - that's probably granny and eggs.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Shock horror.

The UK is facing a shortage of Cadbury 99 Flakes after a surge in demand for soft-serve ice creams topped with the crumbly, chocolate treat.

The majority of the 99 Flakes sold in the UK are made in a factory in Egypt, with some also arriving from a facility in Coolock in Ireland.

Egypt ? :?

Blimey, sales have dropped below 100 for the first time.
