There has been some interest in the Soekris R2R DACs following my project updates on my 300B HPA, which includes one.
There is another good value option for R2R DACs, albeit as finished products, in the shape of the Denafrips range. These have the added advantage, over the Soekris range, of giving the option for 'DAC-less' native DSD decoding.
I've no direct experience of the products but there are plenty of positive comments about them online. The entry level Ares II DAC sells for about £600;

If the discrete R2R DAC approach is still of interest to anyone the following might be of interest. DIY R2R modules, low cost compared with the Soekris boards. I've no experience of them, nor researched further (yet) but I guess some time on Google might throw up some commentary;

I did have a quick look at the website but it's not terribly helpful as its a bit disjointed but there do seem to be various firmware updates available?

I did a bit more reading about the Audio-GD R2R modules over the weekend. I didn't see any direct reviews howver, the R2R modules are used in some Audio-GD products; here's a review of one of their DAC/HPA units;

Not overly inspiring.
Maybe the Soekris R2R DACs are the way to go with this approach?
