#1 Pre-Owston Natter 26th Nov

Post by Tony Moore »

Hello All,

So who is going to be around on Friday evening for a pint, meal and a chat?

I am assuming that we will be able to get food at the Owston Lodge as before? Should we thinking about booking a table? What sort of time will people be arriving?

I aim to be at the hotel before it goes dark, hopefully. I will bring torches for the walk down the pitch black lane!

Looking forward to it!

Cheers,
Tony

Yep, my plan was the same, but as Tony says, that all is based on some assumptions.

I should also be there before dark, and ready for the Friday night "talking bollocks seminar".

Sunset is about 4PM on Friday.

My assumption is that food will be available. :)

A phone call perhaps?

Hoorah for our benevolent dictator.

Food is available Friday night, booking a table not essential, but if numbers and a time were known we could.

I've not been to that pub before.

I'm not sure who that is sitting next to Nick. I think I know the others.

Was that the first Owston when you stayed in a Travelodge near the A1 ?

That's right, i think it was the first one when we hadn't figured out the Owston Hall. A walk from the Travel lodge to the Burghwallis pub. Summer 2007. Time flies. 😱

You mean James? He and Greg always came along together. Both will be missed this time. Hopefully next one!

I remember staying at that Travelodge ( I stayed there last week too on my way north) The Burghwallis though, don't 'member and yet there I was.... Staying at Owston Hall proper was soooo much better; brilliant breakfasts.

Can't come this time. I hope all goes well and all of you have a really good time. I'll drink to you!

It has to be said that the Burghwallis wasn't hugely memorable in its own right. 🤭 I seem to recall a pleasant evening but future ones at owston lodge / hall were certainly an improvement. 😁 Sorry you won't be with us. ☹️

That might have been the year when I came up for the day on the Sunday. I picked up Martin from Witham on the way, he who ran the Witham fest. Memories of Witham wobbler.

I think I remember a very odd fancy dress or country night (not sure which) and the landlady being very taken with Will. Or I could have dreamed it.
