#1 Old Pioneer Tuner

Post by gninnam »

Had a clear out of the garage over the last few weekends and discovered this old tuner.
My uncle bought it new in '73 and I was given it about 25 years ago. Was used a little then put in the garage. Moved house about 16 years ago and went to the back of the garage again.....

Dusted over and had a quick peek inside - all looked good so connected it to my pre-amp and using a piece of wire for an aerial, powered it up.
It works and listening to Classic FM, it sounds very 'warm' and inviting:

Nice one. :)

My local FM reception is pretty poor, even with an external aerial, so my Troughline and stereo decoder is naff. I did modify the Troughline to improve the sensitivity but it's still not enough.

So now, when I need radio it's use the Squeezebox Touch for me. Bonus is I can get stations worldwide. :)

Probably could renew - seems to work perfectly at the moment.
