#1 Day out in Hull Friday 11th June.

Post by pre65 »

I'm fortunate to be attending Steve S meet up this Friday, and have been wondering what (if anything) to take with me.

I've assembled a system this morning, and it sounds very nice, so that (probably) will do.

Cambridge CXC CD transport.

Beresford Caiman SEG DAC.

Home made 15v PSU for SEG.

KT66 (as a triode) monoblocks driven by 6DN7 (from memory)

Big Hammond 5K output transformers. (as used on 833a)

Passive pre with electronic volume control. Currently on 90 out of 100.

I'd like to see how the trioded KT66 with choke loaded cathode follower compares to Steve Cs 45 amp. :)

I'm trying to resist the temptation to bring a load of plinky plonk bollocks. But as 45s in Steve's room probably won't play much else, I'm going to have to include some, even if just to save face.

Should be a good day, hope you all have a great time. Hope there'll be lots of feedback on here too for those of us that have to keep the wheels of industry turning :-)

You better take some “uppers” to counteract the negativity of Cohn and Cash.. Steve will inflict on your ears.

Nobody’s going to be inflicting anything on anyone.
We usually have a good music session and a good chin wag. There’s no competitions, no comparisons, no extended A/B stuff, which is what I like about Steve’s sessions as opposed to the bigger events such as Owston.

The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Yes, you're really missing out dave...

We will do our best to ensure a balanced program though.

I'm guessing all the slots are full? Although it would be a ruddy long way from Portsmouth and I'm not sure I'd be able to get the 300B's down the stairs... I need to buy a stairclimbing sack trolley.

I hope you chaps have a good day - I feel quite envious of your audio-topic social gathering.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

We are limited to 6 people dave including myself, and we have 5 so there is an allowance for one more visitor... but is one hell of a drive for one day !
But you would be very welcome if you did !
