Well I'd have liked to have come. Sounds a good meet.
But I'd like to throw onto the ring a track to test systems....
Peter Gabriel is often dark but I'd recommend a listen to 'Up'.
Track 6 Barry Williams Show. 1 minute and six seconds in there is a bass percussive drop out note of total despair that.....
I've listened to this track on many systems. Some systems can capture the awfulness of the attack transient, some miss it entirely and some make a mushy attempt which, I suppose, is acceptable.
But when you turn things up, dead loud, the floor can open up and you will fall straight to Hell if your system can cope. It may give you some measure of satisfaction that your system did indeed hit the spot a few seconds before you meet the Lord of the Flies. Then nothing really matters.
Just saying.

Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

Rather well as it happened. All the bass notes were clear as a bell and quite even, even the deepest ones - the Mets really can go astoundingly deep. The piano was pretty clear as well, although in all fairness at one point I thought I could hear it being modulated slightly by the bass.steve s wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 11:32 amYou fool...
But it is an exceptional test of sub bass, both speakers and amplification are challenged.
I listened to nicks link on my phone, it actually sounded quite normal on its little speakers...
It's takes a few minutes to climatize to the low stuff, then the last seconds makes you jump... for all the wrong reasons, but you must listen loud
It would be interesting to know how daves metronomes handled it ?
We also listened to the first track on Jazz At The Pawn Shop which sounded very much "in the room".

Funnily enough, I too played Jazz A The Pawnshop. Despite it being one of the best known live jazz recordings on the planet for its sound quality, I’d never heard it. I missed out big style.
The bigger Mets can do serious bass. All of the different sizes produce great LF. But I would say that wouldn’t I
The design is 15 years old now. Sheesh!

They really can - the stuff I generally listen to doesn't have much content in the really deep registers, but of course with film soundtracks we can hear them going pretty deep. Even so, I wasn't expecting that bottom note to play so clearly, but it did, rattling the foundations in the process.Cressy Snr wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 7:19 am The bigger Mets can do serious bass. My copy of "nothing to hide" was finally delivered just a few minutes ago.(from Germany)
I'm giving it an airing on the laptop first, to get a flavour of all the tracks, and I'll try it on the main system later on.
