#1 Shell(bash) colours

Post by ed »

I’ve recently switched to using powershell instead of putty for ssh into linux machines. I spent all morning editing the colour controls for powershell in the PS1 profile but as soon as I ssh into raspian new colours override the setup.

It’s not a big deal really but I was editing in the linux machine and some lines came up as yellow. Fine but it’s impossible to read on a white background(which I prefer to black).

I can’t make head nor tail of the PS1 settings in linux (echo $PS1) and can’t find a simple explanation on the web.

Can anybody shed any light on this?

Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.
