awesome!

a couple of points though:

a mig and a 9" angle grinder are not what I would consider as basic tools, but hey, ymmv

a naive question: what happens when the auto feed(or the operator) takes the cutter to the chuck jaws?

Exactly what you'd expect...

Some machines have an emergency brake and sensors, but most don't.

Very good, though I can't help thinking my father would have watched that and replied, "yes, so can't any time served toolmaker do that?"

My md65 has a simple dog clutch to engage the leadscrew, the lever sticks out the side of gearbox cover. Lift it up and pull towards you to engage the leadscrew, knock the lever back to disengage the feed
I very rarely use the autofeed though, only for threading, and for that i made a hand crank so i can do it without power and slowly

Indeed they probably could... but they didn't and it's left to this guy who is probably in his late 20s or early 30s to do it instead.

But they did, I remember my father (who was a toolmaker) saying that part of the apprenticeship was making your own tools. And given he went on to work for a lathe and milling machine company in effect they did exactly this.

Not diminishing the guy's efforts or your diligence in posting the link but just saying.

Why can't Americans say sole derrr?

They always say Sar derrr - always!

You've almost quoted a Hawkwind lyric there Ray!

About the 2.50 marker ...

"But your father refused to sign the forms to freeze you
Let's see you'd be about 60 now, and long dead
By the time I return to earth
My time held dreams were full of you as you were
When I left, still underage
