I'm not sure, no. But it was only a few days ago a friend of mine in South Yorkshire area aged 56 had been contacted. The more the merrier.

It seems to be a bit variable across the country. My brother in law in Grimsby is 62 and had his today.

Really really interesting program on radio 4 this morning: episode 1 is on HIV, 2 is on bird flu, 3 is covid. All are fascinating.

Well Dr Pfizer has injected a second phial of the magic potion into my uncomplaining left arm. No reaction yet but we'll see. There is an idea going round that if you didn't get a(ny) reaction after the first jab then you will after the second. Again, we'll see.

The sun came out today, just for a while, as I walked home early this afters. The sun was actually warming. I liked that.

Anna gets her second jab at 6-00pm. She had a reaction with her first jab, she tested positive for coviditis back in September when we all had blood tests. I was negative (which might not come as a surprise). We'll see how Anna fares tonight as we pillow fight our way to sleep quaffing flagging of cheap red wine while slapping each others wounded arms till one cries,'enough!' - such fun.

Now pretty much everyone's back at work - many new different working practises. And I don't have to go in and that makes me very happy but I will say this lock down has driven me nuts....

It was good to see familiar faces all getting jabbed, some of whom I haven't seen for months. There was, like nearly all the time in the hospital a good feeling ( camaraderie? we really are all in this together and so far so good or at least so far, so errr far) . I like that.

I had my first vaccination last week and felt terrible the next day - fever, chills, nausea, upset stomach, headache, muscle pain, lack of concentration, minor loss of appetite, and fatigue. Most of the side effects lifted after 4 days but I'm still a little washed out. A friend who's a nurse says it's a good thing as my body has recognised the threat and is fighting it. Lucky me. She also said the second vaccination is worse than the first, which is something to look forward to.

It beats a trip to intensive care.

What's interesting is these side effects are remarkably similar to how I felt 2 Christmasses ago when I was horribly poorly for 3 weeks.

Sounds like you were unlucky, Simon.
On the morning after, I woke up early because I was a bit hot, took a couple of paracetamol and got some more sleep. Felt OK then, just started work late. My arm started being a bit tender near the injection site later in the day.

Oh I woke up this morning........
Thr clock glared neon red, 2-27. My head was exploding, my heart thumping, drenched in sweat..... I realised I'd spelt practices wrong.,.... what a silly bunt!!!!

My arm? Nothing
Anna's arm? Nada

No excuse not to take Anna's dad for his second dose today.

I'd agree with nurse, and who wouldn't!? Any pain, swelling etc etc is Not the virus - it's your body getting itself together to fight the the virus.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Simon but it is a good sign and dose 2 really need not be so bad. Good luck!

I had AZ too. My arm was tender until yesterday, but not a problem.

I wasn't surprised I had the side effects, I'm very susceptible to any kind of viral infection - I only need to look at someone with a cold and I need a week in bed. Not that that's an indicator of likelihood of side effects I imagine.

As I sat for 15 minutes after the vaccine before driving home I read the datasheet (the only person that was!) and was interested to note that the first tranche of side effects could affect more than 1 in 10. I've been fortunate enough not to need too many medications in my life but I think they generally are in the 1 in 1000 and 1 in 10000 realm. But we're in a different world.

Here's a good example of the brain fog I had :-). I did some washing on Monday and was in the middle of hanging it up to dry when Sue shouts up that the machine hadn't used the powder. It then dawned on me I was hanging up dry washing that hadn't been washed at all. Crazy. An early glimpse of dementia I suppose.

I’ve had a flu jab yearly for a while now and never had any reaction to it. In contrast, the AZ vaccine knocked me sideways for several days. In particular I had a raised rash at the injection site for more than a week and felt generally crap. Most debilitating was a painful rib cage and intercostal muscles which made breathing uncomfortable for more than a week. It is well documented that many react even more to the second dose. So much so that the hospital my wife works at has created a new staff sickness code for post inoculation illness. My second is in May and I’m not looking forward to it.

If you had a strong reaction the first time you should get less of a reaction second but we all react individually. The reaction is actually a good sign.... mostly.

I've trawled round peeps who have gad their first AZs. There has been very little reaction. I've had the flu jab ever year now for more than 20 years. Some years I got a reaction some I didnt.

All is anecdote.

A reaction to the vaccination is better than what happens in the ICU, surely!

Five weeks now since Jane and I had our first doses of OAZ. Absolutely no effect whatsoever for either of us. Either we’re lucky or they gave us the wrong stuff!
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.
