He is a sales and marketing person, hence the company car, so should have questioned him. No I take what I read on the web with a pinch of salt, you learn that from HIFI reviews
The brother in laws VW puts the brakes on automatically if he comes down my road at speed as he goes past the lampposts, when they perfect the automatic braking then we will go to driverless cars - cutting out the dangerous factor the human.
My lad is looking at a PCP on an EV car, as with the free insurance and limiting it to 5k per annum, the monthly payment are cheap. Even cheaper for him when he charges it on my electric bill.

Though with only 5k miles the saving on fuel will be less. The best deal on a ev seems to be as a company car as it's still a near zero bik.

The rental costs add about £50 per month for every 5k miles per annum extra you do. Yes company cars are good tax saving

Checking out the Lotus input to the Team GB track bikes use at the Tokyo Olympics I ended up drooling over this...

I doubt I'll ever be in a position to even think about owning one

I was thinking about that and the likely EV Porsche 718 replacements. I assume they will be aiming at the same sort of market segment. My problem is I am not sure how it will work. A large part of that target audience will want to use it on track, and I am not sure how the range will work like that unless they start installing rapid charge stations in the paddock. Which I guess will be coming soon, but probably only at the major circuits at first. And I can see it would be easy to need a couple of charges in a day not including the drive home.
Or maybe there is a big sports car market that just wants it for looks and the Sunday drive and Lotus hope to move into that.

I theory you can buy (if you could) a GT4 for 15k down and £550 a month for a 3 year PCP so I expect the Lotus will be in the same ballpark.I doubt I'll ever be in a position to even think about owning one

Not outrageous numbers Nick but I'm now 64 and need to balance paying outgoings against retirement - just lately retirement has gained more appeal!

Not quite on topic, but I read recently that California will (in a few years) be banning off road gas (petrol) engines.
To include lawn mowers and any gas engined equipment that landscapers/gardeners might use. There was no mention of how this would affect off road motorcycles or the construction industry.
Also it was suggested that the charging of EVs at home could be restricted to certain times of the day (or night).

Yep I think it was the simple two stroke engines in particular they were trying to get rid of. The stats seem to show that they generate more particulate pollution than the cars in the state.

Yep you can still buy as brand new, 2-stroke trail and competition type off-road motorbikes.

We may not appreciate just how broken much of America's power grid seems to be.Also it was suggested that the charging of EVs at home could be restricted to certain times of the day (or night).

I think that’s a large part of the problem, it’s not much of a grid.

I guess that's because national grid == socialism
