I was pageing down the freeview index last night and spotted a program on one of the channels about building British cars. This one was about Morgan. The program/documentary was a bit lacklustre...but....
It focussed in detail about putting the wooden body over the ali chassis and waddya know...when I built the pipi speakers I used exactly the same method as Morgan use for their laminate wheel arches.....I had no idea but at least I'm in good company.

Iesley treated us to a morgan factory a few years back, I throughly enjoyed it, I did see that program on the epg, but it was on the last 5 minutes so missed it.

I've got (on my mantlepiece) an off cut of wooden Morgan frame triple lamination.

If you ever get the chance to do the Morgan factory tour, go for it.

A few years ago, SWMBO bought me a factory tour and the hire of a Plus 4 for the weekend.

For someone of my size, the car was tiny. Very tiny. And a squeeze. Especially when it started to rain (as it does there. A lot) and we had to put the hood up. Getting in and out was a complete nightmare.

Bloody good fun though!

It seems that Arrival (in the UK) are well on the way with their modular design electric vans / bus, with firms like UPS ready to order substantial numbers in the not so distant future, mainly for city and urban use.

There are several videos about Arrival on YouTube for your edification, but I'll link one for a starter.

James May’s car is a Model S. A much earlier design to the Model 3. All the points he has raised have been addressed in the later cars. The 12 volt battery can, if needed be charged through a connector block located behind an easily removable panel in the front bumper. In any case, regular 12 volt battery replacement is part of the service plan. I expect May’s ancillary battery went flat during lock down because he owns too many cars! Unlike ICE cars, EV’s are not ideal for a collectors occasional use.

FWIW, Porsche have a less stupid version. When the battery runs down, you can't open the front trunk to get to the battery, but you can open the door with the key. Then you remove the fuse box cover, and there is a connection point to connect a 12v battery. Once you do that you can open the front and get to the battery. You may be able to charge via one of the cigarette lighter points, but the car disables them in some cases after 20 minutes or so.
