I’ve been following Tim Spector for some time. He’s professor of Genetic Epidemiology at King’s College, and is currently running the ZOE Covid study and app (if you’re not signed up to that, then you should be!), but he also specialises in the epidemiology of dietary issues and has some interesting stuff to say about fats and their effect on health. This article from the BMJ is interesting, but if it’s a subject close to your heart, his book The Diet Myth is a must-read.

The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

He's a good guy, he's got his head screwed on. I have one of his books, not sure if it's that one.

Been stuck in bed now for a few days with an inflamed knee, woke up Tuesday morning with it swollen. I hadn’t done anything strenuous the days before. If my leg isn’t raised it swells more and causes tingling in my foot, along with pain at 9/10. Doctor thinks it’s infected, 2 days into antibiotics not sure, as it’s no better, maybe even worse. Have been reading up on the quackery pages online, - I am wondering whether it’s Pseudogout, which could be a side effect of my Sarcoidosis, - maybe not helped by me taking Vitamin D, as calcification is a downside. Will hopefully get resolution when I see my consultant next week.

My plans for knocking up my speakers for Owston have gone out the window......

Kaye has Sarcoidosis, I remember at the start of CV19, she found that it was not advised to take D supplements for that very reason.

Hope it eases.

Yes bit of a hard call it was on vit D, I took it as it may have some benefit against Covid, which had a high probability of killing you. I haven’t taken it since having my second jab, as the risk of calcification of organs became the higher risk.

Is it as clear-cut as that ?
https://www.sarcoidosisuk.org/informati ... vitamin-d/
"Vitamin D levels are commonly measured in the general population, and your doctor may well check your vitamin D and calcium level as part of a routine checkup. Measuring PTH (parathyroid hormone levels) with a PTH test is helpful in understanding the cause of high calcium, especially in patients with sarcoidosis. If vitamin D levels are low, a doctor would usually recommend supplementation."

No its not and I never said it was, but the simple "take D" is not advised without checking with a medic first in the case of arcoidosis.

I probably need to cut down my calcium intake. I do not consume any dairy products at all, my only source is from those healthy food types such as beans and pulses I eat. I didn’t realise oranges have calcium in them so maybe they will be off the list going forward.

I do like the vitamin D theories, as with everything scientific, theories and laws are only true until someone else proves otherwise.
Next weeks bloods and scans will highlight if I have the right vitamin D levels or not.

My Doctor is going to refer me to the "sleep clinic" at Papworth hospital. :D

I wonder how long before I get an actual appointment ?
I've got a letter today from the Royal Papworth Hospital ( which is actually on the same site as Addenbrooks Hospital) to pick some "sleep equipment" on Dec 7th, and return it the next day.

So, wheels are in motion. :D

None of those, that I know.

I'm assuming it's some form of monitoring equipment to see if I do stop breathing when asleep, and how it affects me ?

I've felt really "shit" since I got home from bowls early afternoon, so getting this problem sorted out is very important for me and my wellbeing.

just reminded me.....

I had my booster at 8 am on Thursday morning...bit different this time as I had to go through 10 minutes of medical questions(do you take this or that, do you suffer from this or that). I said to nurse I didn't go through this last tiem and she replied 'Well I'm a professional, I do it properly"..go figure!

anyways....the first 2 times I felt no side effects whatsoever...this time, wow, was in bed all day on Friday, couldn't sleep on Thursday night, uncontrollable shivering, hallucinations, disorientation, full-on flu symptoms without the sweaty fever. Friday night the same but with the fever. Got up an hour ago, still can't walk in a straight line but I think it's in retreat....

and to think, 50 years ago we paid good money to feel like that.
