Oh dear Paul !
Your second photo looks like a criminals mug shot.
I hope you have a productive day and feel much better by the end of it.

That looks damned painful
Sgt. Baker started talkin’ with a Bullhorn in his hand.

What on earth happened there paul? Take it easy today

That looks sore Paul, look after yourself.
I've just got back from having an ECG at the local hospital, it's a long time after the event as it was the final check instigated by my GP after last year's 'blood in urine' scare.
Turned out the lady who did the scan is a keen cyclist so we had a good chat about all things bikes and riding - clinicians aren't supposed to provide any feedback, just feedback to the specialist, but I read a positive as when I left she said words to the affect of 'nice to meet a fellow cyclist, I'll look out for you on the road'.

I've not heard anything regarding the "sleep study" I did in December (8th) so I rang the Royal Papworth Hospital this morning to see where things are.
Seems the doctor who is on my case has been off sick for a while, but they promised to chase the system for an answer.

This morning I received the 'official' result from my heart ECG - after my blood in urine scare last year my GP referred me for a thorough check when she found out how much hard cycling I do - the consultant said the result was 'reassuring' and no follow-up is required - I'll settle for that at my age.
I celebrated with my 14th ride up Alpe d'Huez on Zwift.

I got a (prearranged) phone call from a Doctor at Papworth this morning, and it seems they think I could benefit from using a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine.pre65 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 12:27 pm I've not heard anything regarding the "sleep study" I did in December (8th) so I rang the Royal Papworth Hospital this morning to see where things are.

He told me the machines are in short supply, and they would get me one as soon as they can. Might be 1-2 months.

If you can't wait, buy one from, for example, Amazon!

My right leg as Cronus and spasticity making very hard to bend at the knee. I’ve was given Botox 6 months after the bleed . It had no effect because I now know I didn’t have brain control and proprioception of my knee.
I got a referral for from my gp , the appointment was received on Wednesday . 14 July 2023. O dear.

Update. The skin healed really well.
But cant think clearly for serious pain nerves on that (left) side from jaw through face over front of head and round back. Like the worst tooth ache youve ever had, but pulling a tooth wouldnt fix it. Neuralogical.
sh1t sh1t sh1t.
Whats worst is Ive been on a one man campain with me only in the group, to never take analgesia. Fookin fine time to meet the challenge of debilitating pain which means you cant hear a conversation as youre elsewhere in youre head, and all the time absolute drivel is coming out of the talkative half of the species rabits on a bout nothing of any importance compared to youre fekin pain!
I cant even finish the Raymond Bates. Let alone graft a gk71 into the 801@ amp.
Anyway its not full on pain all the time, but when it comes it stays as long as it wants to. There is no pattern, its relief to torture in a nano second and long time waiting for it to cecline.
Dentist thinks its bruising.
However I am seeing less of the intense episodes per day, and sometimes my pma (which I havent really demonstrated above) as I started this in intense pain but now only mild. I am geting rewards for toughing it out with the pain. The moments of relief I feel much better than those moments when Im dosed on paracetamol amd/or aspirin. I think its mostly the paracetamol which is most addictive. If like me youve read the bnf cover to cover you’d know that. Paracetamol addicts you by giving you headaches. Go figure! I prefer to wake up in pain and deal with that mentally, than wake up cloudy in the thinking box and with a headache. Worst thing you can do is take another paracetamol!
The method has proved itself. No side effects and just intense pain for a while, and its going away sooner than it was day on day.

Sorry to hear about the pain but glad there's progress Paul.
I'm in two minds about analgesia: on the one hand I don't want pain; on the other I don't like taking any tablets I don't really really need to.
The compromise is that I do take paracetamol, ibuprofen and (rarely) naproxen, but no opioids.
With the knee op, everyone told me I was nuts for trying to avoid pain relief - apparently you have to force your new knee to bend early on in order to establish a decent degree of movement in the longer term, but as there's a tonne of soft tissue damage, it's very very painful to do the physio. If you don't take pain relief it's almost impossible to do the early physio and if you don't do the physio then the longer term prognosis regarding knee movement is poor.
So there are times when it's just sensible to compromise. I still avoid opioids, but occasionally take paracetamol and ibuprofen.

I think for the knee Id even take oral morphine, due to the benefit of mobilising it properly. If you take morphine for pain it doesnt actually addict you, but you still have to reduce dosages over 6 months to get off it.
The problem is replacement knee joints are a pile of crap! youre much better off working with youre own knees to the last.
Yes in youre scenario Id take pain relief in order to mobilise because its sh1t having false knee's! In youre case its not just about pain relief its about geting the best outcome for the op.
