Well jumping in here, very unsatisfactory but, hospitals are filling up with people with covid not with people who are dieing if vivid because trying to get back to the things hospitals do, they test everyone. There are many more admissions and very few during. More NHS staff are getting covid too. Happily they aren't dieing either. But they are sent home and the burden on the staff who are left us pretty nigh on intolerable. It may break down.

The point is to protect ( as much as possible) the vulnerable. I don't think he actually said isolate which is one possibility. Vaccination is another.

He also said how stupid much if the mask wearing is given the way most people misuse them and the true nature of ' aerosols'. In perspective for him vivid us just a bad flu, nothing like as bad as Spanish flu or hiv for which none of the economy even blinked let alone being put into tier 3.

Nothing is ever easy ... Except to make such a statement. sorry.

Roger Hodkinson said social distancing was useless because of spread by aerosol. Well it all depends doesn't it. We can at least reduce direct transmission person to person by keeping our distance even if the containment of aerosols is a constant for a given room with given ventilation. The latter seems to have been almost negligently overlooked. Hand Face Space Ventilate maybe.
He said masks were useless as though it were a fact concluded by scientists everywhere. Masks surely reduce spread by limiting emissions of aerosols from infected wearers. There may be some protection from said aerosols too.
He makes claims that giving the vulnerable 3-5000iu vitamin D every day which will radically reduce the chances of infection. Although I tend to
believe vitamin D does offer protection we are still waiting on the results of large scale clinical trials.
He fails to mention long covid sufferers. We are told that due to the way CV19 attacks multiple organs we are likely to see investigation necessitating teams of specialists in many fields. Long covid is being seen in younger populations.
If lockdowns were less tardy and coupled with effective track and trace conducted by local health officials we might have saved a lot more lives and
inflicted less damage on the economy. More the pity we have a clown running the show in the UK.

I haven't seen any valid or reliable study on the use of face masks, any type available in a local corner store for example as s prophylactic for covid. The most common face mask as given out at the door of any hospital is recommended for 20 minutes use. Clinicians, nurses and doctors wear considerably more layers.

The huge number of people wearing this and other more cosmetic masks .... Do they discard after 20 minutes? Why don't they cover mouth and nose?

This morning in the radio someone was talking about 15 minutes max in a shop ( or other closed space):. That seems a much more sensible approach. Get out in the fresh air. Covid doesn't stand a chance outside.

It’s a bit despairing when you start getting sent videos showing that the vaccine is made with recombinant RNA and that it will suborn your will and make you a slave of the Gates Empire. Where’s the double face-palm GIF when you need it?

What's so bad about recombinant RNA? How do you think they make it? Would you rather have unpasteurised animal products injected into your veins?

I think one or two of the studies mentioned on John Campbell's latest video on the mask subject would fit the bill on this question -

You and Yours on radio 4 today had a chunk on vitamin D research from the guy running the QMC project.

"Vitamin D: The truth about an alleged Covid ‘cover-up’"

Amongst other things, it appears that the Spanish paper that made such a splash last year has been withdrawn over a number of concerns - The Lancet have launched an investigation.

It happens..... a bit of peer review and many papers disappear, some less slow than others.

Last week on the radio a woman trying to explain why she wouldn't have a covid van,'....I've already had covid twice so I'm not going to have the jab now....' no amount of questioning the value of how immunisation which could stop others getting covid would sway her.

That's a shame, it was the only interventional study we'd seen ( I think). It will be interesting to see if it comes back in any form.
I hope people don't assume that this is the end of the subject just because the BBC published an article about the Spanish study. There were loads of interesting evidential studies that were done, they weren't acknowledged in this article at all.

I've been sitting out in the front garden, just in my shorts, soaking in some natural vitamin D. :D

It's lovely here this afternoon, no clouds in the sky, only an occasional vehicle passing, some cyclists and a few locals walking.

Bliss.
