Ride with GPS has let me down again. Some years ago Ride with GPS started not recording my rides... just like that. Older Samsung phones didn't seem to be needing a SIM card for Ride to work. But with my Samsung 8, in those days new, it started not to work and was most upsetting. With a SIM card, without, using data or not, having wifi enabled or not it started getting very erratic. Then it started to work and then, after a while I stopped using Ride because a) couldn't be bothered b) my rides were getting less interesting. I took it on walks in the Lake District and I was happy with that. Walks around London were stupidly wrong and hopelessly inaccurate.
This year, another bike nicked, another bike bought - cheap Carrera Bobbie -what is the point of an uber bike - really! So ,new year , give it a try. F±first two crushing 8 mile rides a new (loaned by enthusiastic nephew) camera; Nord, Ride was magnificent accurately recording pavement riding. Then today, a big one, into town meander alongside the meandering river ouse out of town into the winding lanes to a coffee shop in a country park. Ride recorded only the last four miles, showing an average speed of 1.25mph. The journey, well travelled by me, I know is at least 13 miles. I reset the software and set off to come home equally wobbling over miles more than I need to get home and 15 miles into the return journey I was still in Harrold Country Park. Very depressed by the time I passed the Gurdwara, normally an inspiring sight particularly when the weather is so spectacularly beautiful as it is today I stopped and the marker (me) shot across fields trees roads housing estates like a wonky helicopter and all of a sudden I had covered 11 miles - actually about 15. From there to home the marker moved, again ignoring roads houses etc and I arrived home. I never like to be Conservative but a conservative estimate of my round trip is at least 28 miles but Ride tidally mangled it all.
Have none of you really never had a prob with this software?

Does your phone record the route? Does the Garmin do this?

I have a huawei band 3 pro that i use for running and the huawei health app on my samsung note 9. The gps bit is in the watch, and can use the phone too if i decided to take it with me (which i dont).
Its pretty accurate, it can record running, cycling and swimming, it does heart rate and a vo2 measurement. For 50 quid its been worth it for me, and i hate taki g the pho e with me while running.
Ill see if i can get a screen grab of the interface. Only thing i dont think it does which would be useful is elavation

I've just returned from my first free-range ride for several weeks, beautiful early spring weather beckoned so I headed out for the afternoon for 39miles around South Somerset.
The ride was flawlessly recorded on both my Wahoo Elemnt bike computer and my Samsung Galaxy phone running RidewithGPS - I never have a problem with either but always go 'belt and braces' just in case.

Have you tried binning the App and then downloading it again?
#2831 Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.
here are a couple of screen grabs of the interface, there is also a route map which i didn't want to put on as it shows the address
this shows a summary apart from 1km splits which are on a different page
Running app by anthony cresswell, on Flickr
this one shows the metrics over time of the run

i presume it looks pretty much the same for the cycling and swimming bit

Binning the app might work, good point. Binning the phone too appeals to me....
