I was wrong and when all is said and done I did make the top quartile for both my age group (I'm 63) and overall. These stats are for elevation climbed:
The sample is those who log their rides on Strava and entered the July climbing challenge. Relative to the number of Strava users (about 76M and growing by about 1M new accounts per month) the overall sample is relatively small, though the user population covers many sports disciplines and I don't know how many are cyclists.

Apologies for this, but...

Our eldest son, Will is doing the London Full Olympic Triathlon (the first in the family) on the 8th August in aid of GOSH. He hates running and swimming, but has worked really hard on those over the last 18 months.
Every few quid helps - he's only a small amount off his target and it's a great cause. Ta.

Ta. He's not done an Olympic Triathlon before - the water is cold & dirty (he says) and he hates swimming in a wetsuit...
At least the forecast for Sunday is reasonable.
On other matters, I had a meeting with the Rheumatologist today - prognosis is good, hopefully... still need the knee replacement though...

Good news Nick, you'll be doing an Olympic triathlon with him this time next year.
This is my sort of olympic challenge...

A most unpleasant experience - I had a wasp get in my mouth while out riding yesterday and got stung on the inside of my top lip. I wasn't too far from getting home but by the time I did I looked as though I'd had one of those bad 'cod fish' lip jobs! I managed to pull the sting out with some tweezers, popped an anti-histamine and survived - still a little tender this morning but should be fine by the end of the day.
The weird thing is that I was riding with someone last Thursday afternoon and they had exactly the same experience!

Ouch! Heal quick Ray. I got stung once on the lip at a beer festival, a wasp was sitting on my glass and I took a gulp from it, kerrrrpoweee! You wouldn't believe the amount of of Ale I had to sink to make the pain go away

Cheers Dave.
Actually, I can - I found this image of a beer festival first aid facility:Dave the bass wrote: ↑Sun Aug 15, 2021 8:20 am I got stung once on the lip at a beer festival, a wasp was sitting on my glass and I took a gulp from it, kerrrrpoweee! Dude that's harsh !
Glad you're on the mend.
I'm just trying to work out how NOT to spend £30 in order to watch one stage of the Vuelta...

This has appeared at the bottom of my road. Should I dig out my excited trousers?
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Thanks for reminding me - I may be in North Wales, or in the Lakes that week, I have taken hols. Must re-check the route and timings.
At the finish in Llandudno, they are going up the hideous 1 in 4 road by the Cog railway on the Orme.
