Yes Phil, Peter West was a bit of a character, no check on who I was, just leave a cheque and take two amps.
Later he moved out of Newbury to a nearby village and when I there to pick up the Onix following the relay repair he had one of the Marantz turntables that could be adjusted for out of centre holes in records.
I was looking at it trying to guess how it worked when he just said "Out of your price range boy", in a friendly way.
I was 35, but he was not wrong.
Hi Andrew he was above the record shop on Northbrook Street.

Opposite the Methodist Church? That used to be called Alphonse Cary. I still remember buying several jomi hendrix singles and a muddy waters lp there.

We need a like button !
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Hi Andrew, I bit further south, 93b, on the same side as the Methodist Church, notice it's a Pret A Manger now.
Wasn't Jomi Hendrix the woman who played a left handed guitar with her right hand?

Yesssss I think I 'member (70s though and I left in 72).. There was a record shop that lasted much longer round by the wharf but it too has gone. But waIt a minute... what's that!? A barber shop in Bartholomew Street that has a record shop in the back - groovy man.
Newbury was such a safe place to grow up in. No '...tracks across my back.... ' anyone get that reference!!?
As I was strolling down memory lane I realised that there is nobody left in Newbury who I know..... cripes. Still looks jolly prosperous and happy in the sunshine.

I had a letter in the post last week from a local (Haverhill) Jehovah Witness group, asking if I needed any help.
Seems they find visiting people a problem whilst Covid is about.
I wish them no ill, and even when they have made personal visits (pre Covid) we always parted on good terms.

We went to Blenheim Palace today - lovely sunshine too.
Enormous innit!
I'd prefer something more modest. Wheras Bedford Towers is too small for us perhaps Castle Howard would suit us better.

Not that Impressed with those amp cases.
Pretty simple design and rather lumpen and agricultural in appearance. So much more could have been done.
